Allen Barrows was a driving force at Boise Little Theater throughout the 1950s, bringing his passion and talent to nearly every corner of the stage and beyond. Elected President for the 1957–58 season, Allen’s leadership came after years of steadfast commitment as an actor, stage manager, house manager, set builder, and board member.
His theatrical journey included memorable performances in productions such as The Little Foxes playing William Marshall, Still Life playing Alec Harvey, Mister Roberts playing Chief Johnson, Happy Birthday playing Paul, Bus Stop playing Virgil Blessing, and The Man Who Came to Dinner playing Luncheon Guest. Equally active behind the scenes, Allen was a prolific stage manager and craftsman, contributing set construction and technical support to over a dozen productions including The Happy Time, Dial “M” for Murder, The Fifth Season, and The Teahouse of the August Moon.
Beyond his technical and performance skills, Allen was a vital presence in the front of house—serving as house manager, usher, and assistant throughout multiple seasons, and even designing programs and playing in the onstage concert band for Bertha the Beautiful Typewriter Girl. Known for his versatility, reliability, and generosity of spirit, Allen Barrows helped shape Boise Little Theater’s community-driven identity and set a lasting example of what it means to serve with heart, humor, and hands-on dedication.
