(1995-1997)
Barbara Beautrow’s extraordinary legacy at Boise Little Theater spans more than three decades of heartfelt service, award-winning artistry, and passionate community involvement. From her debut performance as Kay Strange in Towards Zero (1987) to her most recent appearances and behind-the-scenes work in the 2019–20 season, Barbara has done it all—actor, director, board member, business manager, sound designer, set builder, usher, and more.
She was honored as “Rookie of the Year” in the 1987–88 season and went on to become one of BLT’s most versatile and committed volunteers. Barbara served as President for two seasons (1995–96 and 1996–97), where she led with grace and dedication. Her directorial achievements include I’ll Leave It to You, The Foreigner, Double Exposure, Play On!, Sing On!, and But Why Bump Off Barnaby?, the last of which earned her a Best Director award.
Equally talented onstage, Barbara won Best Supporting Actress for Come Blow Your Horn and delivered standout performances in shows like The Importance of Being Earnest, The Odd Couple (Female Version), The Red Velvet Cake War, and Pride and Prejudice. She also served as a dialect coach, cover artist, set painter, dresser, and sound designer—exemplifying what it means to be a true theater collaborator.
Barbara’s long-standing role as Meeting Refreshments Coordinator became a beloved symbol of her warmth and consistency. Whether managing the box office, assisting with membership, or greeting patrons with a smile, she poured her heart into every task.
With deep roots in every aspect of Boise Little Theater’s operation, Barbara Beautrow represents the spirit of community theater: a blend of creativity, service, and joy. Her legacy is etched into the walls of the theater she helped nurture, one performance, paintbrush, and plate of cookies at a time.
Barbara had a dream that our patrons would have some leg room, as well as for accessible seating to be closer to the stage. After her death, her daughter, Lynne Beautrow Tucker, made sure that happened. By donating her inheritance to the project. That house refurbish was completed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
