(1982-1983)

Del Andrews was the master behind the scenes whose artistry quite literally lit up the Boise Little Theater stage for over three decades. A gifted lighting designer, technician, and devoted volunteer, Del served as President during the 1982–83 season and earned both the “Gold Key” award and “Lifetime Patron Membership” for his unparalleled contributions to the theater.

Del’s journey at BLT began in 1959 as a lighting assistant, but he quickly became one of the theater’s most trusted technical leaders. From intimate dramas like The Glass Menagerie to grand musicals like Anything Goes, Del’s lighting designs brought depth, atmosphere, and life to countless productions. His work on Tiger at the Gates earned him a Co-Best Lighting Design award, and in 1989, his lighting for Taking Steps was honored with a Best Lighting Design award.

His leadership extended beyond the lighting booth—Del served multiple seasons as Lighting Director, Technical Equipment Coordinator, and Board Member. He frequently supported productions with his technical expertise, often juggling roles as designer, equipment manager, advisor, usher, and even lobby photographer.

Known for his quiet reliability and innovative approach, Del helped define the visual identity of BLT’s stagecraft across multiple generations. His lighting designs enhanced stories, his presence backstage reassured cast and crew, and his legacy continues to shine through every well-lit cue and shadowed scene at Boise Little Theater. Del Andrews didn’t just design the lights—he illuminated the heart of community theater.
