(1973-1975, 1984-1985)

Don Mummert’s name is synonymous with Boise Little Theater. From his first appearance on stage in 1953 as Stephen Spettigue in Charley’s Aunt, Don went on to leave his mark on virtually every aspect of BLT’s productions and operations. His extraordinary contributions span over seven decades, more than 100 productions, and countless roles—onstage, backstage, and behind the scenes.

A gifted and versatile performer, Don shined in comedic, dramatic, and supporting roles alike. From Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey, to Mike Talman in Wait Until Dark, to Frank in Over the River and Through the Woods, his performances earned him multiple Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards, along with the admiration of audiences and peers alike. He was also a trusted director, helming shows such as Murder at the Howard Johnson’s (twice!), Don’t Drink the Water, and Opal’s Baby—many of which won Best Director and Best Production honors.

But Don’s passion for theater never ended with the curtain call. He served as President, Board Member, Business Manager, Stage Manager, Lighting and Sound Designer, Set Builder, Assistant Director, and Co-House Manager. Perhaps most notably, Don held the role of Awards Coordinator for over 40 consecutive seasons, overseeing one of BLT’s most cherished traditions with care and consistency.

In 2010, Don received the prestigious “Sue Howe Century Award” for contributing to over 100 productions—a milestone few in community theater ever reach. In 1996, he was named a Lifetime Patron Member, which was updated to Lifetime Voting Member in 2023. Don has also been recognized by the American Association of Community Theaters for his exceptional service.

Even into the 2020s, Don remains a dedicated part of the house staff and usher team, often alongside his wife, Jody. Their commitment to creating a welcoming, smooth, and joyful experience for every patron reflects Don’s lifelong love for the theater community. Don Mummert is more than an actor or director—he is a living legacy. His steadfast service, wide-ranging talent, and deep commitment have helped shape Boise Little Theater into what it is today. His name will forever be etched in the theater’s rich history, and in the hearts of all who’ve had the pleasure of working beside him.
