(1997-1998)

Evelyn “Ev” Sherod devoted decades of talent, leadership, and creativity to Boise Little Theater, leaving a profound and lasting mark on the organization.

Ev’s involvement with BLT began in the early 1970s, assisting with production and make-up for shows like Play It Again, Sam (1973) and The Wizard of Oz (1973). She soon became an indispensable volunteer, working as a properties manager, script committee chair, and assistant director before stepping into the spotlight as an actor in productions such as The Family Man playing Mrs. Tash (1982), See How They Run playing Miss Skillon (1984), Prescription: Murder playing Claire Flemming (1989), I Ought to Be in Pictures playing Steffy (1990), Pack of Lies playing Thelma (1992), and 84 Charing Cross Road playing Maxine Stuart (1996).

Ev was also a skilled and celebrated director, helming memorable productions including The Man in the Dog Suit (1989), Steel Magnolias (1990), A Bad Year for Tomatoes (1991), Flowers for Algernon (1993), The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 (1994), Greetings (1996), Educating Rita (1999), and the award-winning The Odd Couple (Female Version) (1998), for which she received BLT’s Best Director Award and Best Sound Award. Her technical expertise extended to set construction, sound design, and sound operation, making her a true multi-hyphenate theater artist.

Beyond the stage, Ev served in many leadership roles — as a board member, nominating committee chair, membership chair, and ultimately President for the 1997–98 season. Her passion for theater, dedication to excellence, and ability to inspire both cast and crew made her a guiding force within BLT for more than 25 years.

Evelyn Sherod’s legacy lives on in the productions she directed, the characters she brought to life, and the countless volunteers she encouraged along the way.
