(1991-1993)
Jerry Garber brought charisma, creativity, and exceptional talent to every corner of the Boise Little Theater stage. Serving as President for two consecutive seasons (1991–92 and 1992–93), Jerry’s leadership was matched by his outstanding contributions as an actor, director, designer, and board member throughout the late 1980s and 1990s.
Jerry first appeared at BLT as Danny Feeley in Suds in Your Eye (1986), and quickly became known for his versatility and stage presence. He earned accolades for his performances as Perry Mason in A Case for Mason (Best Lead Actor) and Ernest in Bedroom Farce (Best Supporting Actor), and took on memorable roles in productions like Verdict, Pack of Lies, Rumors, and Opal’s Million Dollar Duck.
As a director, Jerry’s work was both acclaimed and beloved. His production of Look Homeward, Angel earned the Best Director and Best Production awards, and he went on to direct numerous hits including You Never Can Tell, Prescription: Murder, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Out of Sight, Out of Murder, I Hate Hamlet, and Squabbles. He often wore multiple hats—handling set design, lighting, and construction with the same passion he brought to the director’s chair.
Behind the scenes, Jerry also served multiple terms as a board member and was a regular usher, embodying the spirit of community and teamwork that defines BLT. Working with BLT was a bit of a family affair for Jerry as his wife, Sue, and his son, Tim, were also involved.
Jerry Garber’s contributions to Boise Little Theater helped define a golden era of thoughtful, engaging productions. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, his work was marked by excellence, heart, and a deep commitment to the craft of storytelling.
