John Myers has been an integral force at Boise Little Theater for over three decades, contributing his talents as a director, designer, actor, technician, builder, and leader. His journey began onstage as Horatio in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (1991), and since then, he has become one of the most prolific and celebrated contributors in the theater’s history.
John has directed a long list of productions, including award-winning shows like How the Other Half Loves (1996), A Few Good Men (2001), Steel Magnolias (2007), A Christmas Story (2009), Little Shop of Horrors (2015), The Addams Family (2017), and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2024). His direction often goes hand-in-hand with set design, construction, and lighting—demonstrating a rare versatility that elevates every production he touches.
He has earned numerous accolades over the years, including multiple Best Director, Best Lighting Design, and Best Production of the Year awards. His lighting work, in particular, has become a hallmark of quality at BLT, with standout designs in shows like Foxfire, Shakespeare in Hollywood, Marvelous Wonderettes, Puffs, Clue on Stage, and [Title of Show].
Offstage, John has served on the Board of Directors for many seasons, including several as President. He has chaired the Script Committee and served as Supervising Director and Technical Manager, overseeing lighting, sound, and building maintenance with tireless dedication. His technical expertise has supported virtually every aspect of production, from light programming and set painting to rigging and live-stream management.
John has also taken the stage in memorable roles such as Curley in Of Mice and Men, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi in Curtains, Lenny Ganz in Rumors, Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and TJ in Beer for Breakfast. He has even lent his voice and performance skills to live-stream cabarets during the pandemic, helping keep theater alive in challenging times.
A frequent contributor to youth and holiday productions as well, John has built sets and designed lighting for Anne of Green Gables, High School Musical Jr., Oz! The Musical, and several iterations of A Christmas Carol and White Christmas.
Through his leadership, mentorship, artistry, and ceaseless behind-the-scenes work, John Myers has helped shape the visual and organizational legacy of Boise Little Theater. His impact is immeasurable, and his dedication continues to inspire generations of artists and volunteers.
