From her earliest days as an usher in the 1964–65 season to her final appearances on stage decades later, Marie served in nearly every role imaginable—onstage, backstage, and in leadership.

She served as President during the 1976–77 season, following years of dedicated involvement as a board member, house manager, and committee member. Marie’s artistic range as an actor was matched by her behind-the-scenes contributions, which included assistant directing, producing, publicity, program design, costuming, makeup, and musical direction—most notably for the 50th Anniversary Grand Finale Musical Revue in 1998.

A talented and award-winning performer, Marie brought warmth and depth to roles like Monica Breedlove in Bad Seed and Ida in The Cemetery Club, earning Best Supporting Actress honors for both. She was also recognized for standout performances in 84 Charing Cross Road (Best Cameo Actress, tie) and The Curious Savage, among many others.

Beyond her talent, Marie was known for her generosity, leadership, and tireless service. She was a vital presence in BLT’s seasonal operations, working on programs, refreshments, summer theater coordination, and script selection. Whether playing a grand dame or greeting patrons with a smile, Marie embodied the heart and soul of community theater.

Marie Blanchard’s enduring commitment over more than four decades helped define an era at Boise Little Theater. Her impact lives on in the performances she shaped, the productions she led, and the countless lives she touched in the audience and behind the curtain.
