For nearly five decades, Paul Moehlmann was a constant and essential presence at Boise Little Theater, dedicating his talents to virtually every aspect of stagecraft and operations. From swinging hammers to calling cues, greeting patrons to leading the board, Paul embodied the collaborative spirit and commitment that sustain community theater.

Paul began his BLT journey in 1951 with set construction and curtain operation on The Silver Whistle, and quickly became indispensable. His early contributions included stage management, set decoration, house management, and even acting in key productions such as Bell, Book and Candle playing Nicky Holroyd, Detective Story playing Detective Callahan, The Best Man playing a reporter, and Under the Yum Yum Tree playing a Milkman. His skill and versatility earned him leadership roles as House Staff Committee Chair, Supervising Stage Manager, and eventually Vice President (1965–66) and President (1966–67).

Known for his meticulous backstage work, Paul received awards for his contributions to stage management (Death Takes a Holiday) and set design (Night of the Iguana). He was frequently behind the scenes managing everything from props to program design, with credits on shows like The Crucible, The Desk Set, The Odd Couple, and Mary, Mary.

Paul was also a dedicated usher and house manager well into the 1990s, continuing to serve as a welcoming face to audiences long after his days on the ladder or at the light board. As Past Presidents Coordinator, he remained connected to the theater’s leadership and legacy, mentoring others and helping preserve the institutional memory of BLT.

Paul Moehlmann’s unmatched record of service, leadership, and craftsmanship made him one of Boise Little Theater’s most enduring and influential contributors. His work—both visible and invisible—helped shape the foundation and continuity of this beloved community institution.
