Are you looking for something different for Christmas this year? Well, this is the script for you: eight reindeer dishing about the real Santa. All those rumors you’ve heard about him and the elves? About Rudolph’s little secret? About Vixen’s story that was leaked to the press? All true. Yes, the reindeer finally speak up and – believe us – they do not hold back!
Auditions September 28 12pm-3pm by appointment.
Callbacks, if needed, will be held on September 29th at 12pm.
Rehearsal Dates
Rehearsals will be scheduled once a week based on individual actor availability. The last two weeks of rehearsal will be Monday through Thursday 7pm to 9pm with the whole group. Mandatory tech rehearsal will be on Black Friday, Nov 29th, during the day. Time tbd, but at some point between 10am and 5pm.
Auditions consist of excerpts from the monologues. Cold readings will be held in groups of three in 15 minute intervals. Contact the director for a digital copy of the script.
SHOW SYNOPSIS
“When a doe says ‘no’, she means ‘no’.”
A dark Christmas comedy. Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa’s eight reindeer accuses him of sexual harassment. As mass media descends upon the event, the other members of the sleigh team are asked to share their perspectives and a horrific tale of corruption and perversion emerges, which seems to implicate everyone from the littlest elf to the tainted Saint himself. With each deer’s confession, the truth behind the shocking allegations becomes clearer and clearer…and murkier and murkier.
ROLES
Dasher. Male. First Reindeer and leader of the pack each Christmas run. He refuses to speak on the scandal. Militaristic.
Cupid. Male. The only openly gay Reindeer and extremely proud of it. He knows, and has seen, some stuff.
Hollywood. Male. Also known as Prancer, his personality has changed some since the release of his movie and the launch of his acting career. He wonders how Vixen’s accusation will affect his notoriety.
Blitzen. Female. Vixen’s chief supporter during the scandal and leader of the walk-out against Santa. Strong feminist character.
Comet. Male. A reformed convict, saved from a life of drugs and crime by the Claus family, he’s Santa’s biggest advocate and supporter. He believes Santa is beyond reproach.
Dancer. Female. This role has already been cast. Former ballet professional who joined The Eight not long after her studio was burned in protest of Reindeer dancers. She really needs this job.
Donner. Male. Rudolph’s father and unemployed herd deer, he was placed on The Eight by Santa to help keep him quiet after the infamous “Foggy Christmas Eve” incident. Racked with guilt and doesn’t expect anyone to understand why.
Vixen. Female. Attempting to press charges against Santa for sexual assault but her sordid past is coloring people’s judgment of her. She is a blunt characterization of how many victims are treated by the justice system and media. She doesn’t want this attention.
