Musical Comedy
(Ages 14+)
It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where rock star Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ’n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.

Black Box Production
by Gregg Irwin
Dramedy
November 7-8
(Age 13+)
Clara and George have opened their small-town home to people in need, as an unofficial halfway house, but they’re getting on in years. Their son, Dylan, only comes home because he has to, and makes trouble for the residents who he thinks have taken his rightful place. When George has a fall and begins to decline, we join him, Clara, their residents, and a curmudgeonly judge as they face the future, face off against Dylan, and face their fears.
With plenty of humor and heart, Half-Way Home looks at what it means to be imperfectly human, a family, and how we deal with aging and ability (our own and other’s). It’s about things we have no control over, choices we make, and whether our past defines our future. Also, diapers and people who talk to you while they’re peeing.
Recommended for ages 13+, for some language and mature subject matter, including drug references.

Director Kevin Nissen

She meets the women of Lockerbie, who are fighting the U.S. government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane’s wreckage. The women, determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victim’s families. The Women of Lockerbie is loosely inspired by a true story, although the characters and situations in the play are purely fictional. Written in the structure of a Greek tragedy, it is a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.
